Our Trustees

Our Trustees are responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of Barts Charity. They are all unpaid volunteers who give their time and expertise to help achieve our goal of extraordinary healthcare for all. They meet regularly throughout the year to discuss strategies and policies and to monitor activities, receiving reports and updates from the management team.

Paul Rawlinson

Paul Rawlinson

Chairman

Paul is a Chartered Accountant and a former partner and Executive Board member of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Nick Anstee

Nick Anstee

Nick is a Chartered Accountant and is a Senior Director at City law firm King & Wood Mallesons LLP. He was formerly head of the private equity advisory practice at Arthur Andersen and in 2009/2010 he was Lord Mayor of London.

 

Andy Bruce

Andy Bruce

Andy is a partner and Head of UK Real Estate at Linklaters LLP, solicitors.

Alastair Camp

Alastair Camp

As Acting Chairman of Barts Health NHS Trust, Alastair is automatically appointed as one of our Trustees. He has been an NHS non-executive director in east London for the past eight years. His business career has included 34 years with Barclays plc, during which he led businesses in the UK and overseas.

 

Sally Flanagan

Sally Flanagan

Sally is Director of Unquoted Investments at Caledonia Investments plc and formerly Head of Healthcare Investment teams at Private Equity investors, Permira and PPM Capital (now Silverfleet). Her non-executive directorships include Gala Bingo, Choice Care Group and the Sloane Club.

 

Dominic Hollamby

Dominic Hollamby

Dominic is Global Head of Healthcare / Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals at Rothschilds Bank. A Chartered Accountant, he was formerly partner at Arthur Andersen. He was also previously Honorary Treasurer of both the Refugee Council and Home-Start.

William Medlicott

William Medlicott

William is a Chartered Accountant and was formerly Finance Director for ITV Broadcasting, part of ITV PLC.

Professor John Monson

Professor John Monson

John is Emeritus Professor of Clinical Endocrinology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Sir Stephen O'Brien OBE

Sir Stephen O'Brien OBE

Sir Stephen is well known for his work in the voluntary sector. His involvements include being Chairman of London Works and of Ed Miliband’s Mental Health in Society Task Force. He is President of Proshanti (a charity promoting the construction of a health centre in Bangladesh) and Vice-President of Business in the Community. He is also a Trustee/Director of the Mayor’s Fund for London. He is a former Chairman of Barts Health NHS Trust.

Professor Ian Sanderson

Professor Ian Sanderson

Ian is Professor of Paediatric Gastroenterology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is also Visiting Professor at University College London and Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan and he is also on the external faculty at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

Professor John Shepherd

Professor John Shepherd

John is Emeritus Professor of Surgical Gynaecology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and formerly a Consultant Surgeon and Gynaecological Oncologist at The Royal Marsden Hospital, London.

Jessica Wanamaker

Jessica Wanamaker

Jessica is a solicitor, and change leadership and development consultant.  She is also Council Member and Chair of External Relations Committee, Goldsmith’s College University of London and Board Member and Company Secretary, Contemporary Applied Arts.

Leopoldo Zambeletti

Leopoldo Zambeletti

Leopoldo is a strategic advisor to healthcare companies in corporate finance matters, having formerly been Managing Director, Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Credit Suisse and JP Morgan, London. He is Director of Nogra Pharma (Irish pharmaceutical company), Advanced Accelerator Applications (nuclear diagnostics and therapeutics company) and Summit Therapeutics (NASDAQ listed biotech company).

Dr Thomas Round

Dr Thomas Round

Thomas is a GP at the Bromley by Bow Health Partnership. He is also an Academic Clinical Research Fellow in Primary Care and Public Health Sciences at King’s College London. He is Clinical Lead for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Essential Knowledge Updates programme and a member of the National Cancer Research Institute primary care clinical studies group. He also represents the Royal College of GPs on the management board of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Collaborating Centre for Cancer.
