The difference you’ll make
However you want to change lives, we’ll support you and your colleagues. You can be with us for a year, a month or simply a day – each moment will make a difference to the people in your local community.
If you have a particular cause close to your heart within the hospitals we support, you can choose to fundraise specifically for that area, or generally – where we ensure the money goes to where it’s most needed.
Either way, 100% of any funding goes directly to your chosen cause.
Some ways you can help include:
- Fundraising – organising your own event, getting some collection tins, doing an office-wide sponsored activity – the options are endless!
- Challenging yourself and your colleagues – we have a range of events you can sign up to
- Volunteering – we have a number of options if you’d like to give time
Career Moves chose us as their charity of the year for 2016, fundraising throughout the year with a host of activities including sweepstakes, bake sales, half marathons and 10Ks
They also visited The Royal London to help decorate the wards at Christmas, as well as donating presents for the patients.
Sarah, who nominated us, said: "It's been a wonderful experience supporting Barts Charity.
“As a company, we’ve really enjoyed working together thinking of creative fundraising ideas and have worked hard to raise money with bake offs, world food days, half marathons, 5k and 10ks.
“We have been incredibly proud supporting a local charity to our business and more importantly our NHS!”
Marks & Spencer
When the Paternoster Square branch of M&S heard about the new Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew’s, they knew they wanted to support a hospital that’s on their doorstep - so they got in touch.
The team used collection tins and put up posters to promote their efforts – all making a difference to patients in their community.
They've chosen us as their charity of the year again for 2016/17, aiming to beat their fundraising total from last year.
"Our customers have been so generous," said Evelyn - charity champion at the store. "They've been keen to show their support of the Barts Heart Centre and fill our collection tins very quickly."
In an effort to raise money for St Bartholomew’s, Kate and her colleagues at Virgin Media Retail in Hammersmith organised a football tournament.
Each player made a donation to play, and the company matched the final total.
“We wanted to raise some money for Barts Hospital to thank the staff for the amazing work they do”, said Kate.
It was a great result for all involved – get in!
The Lee Tunnel team
The Lee Tunnel team, led by Jane, chose us as their charity of the year for 2015.
They were working on the new transfer and storage tunnel at Stratford, and wanted to give back to the local area.
They chose to fundraise for the Rainbow children’s ward at Newham – their local hospital.
“It was a real pleasure to be able to hand over £10,000 to such a worthy cause”, said Francois – part of the team who supported the fundraising.
By supporting Barts Charity, you’ll be helping your local hospital and the people of London. It’ll also be a great way to get staff engaged, to have some fun and raise awareness too!
