#TeamBarts and the London Marathon

25 Apr 2016

We’d like to say a huge well done to all of our fantastic runners for their inspiring London Marathon efforts on Sunday.

Barts Charity staff at the London Marathon 2016

So far they’ve raised nearly £15,000 – an amazing total. From running to thank hospital staff, to supporting leading research, they tackled the iconic 26.2-mile course through London for a range of causes within the hospitals we support, each of which meant something personal to each of them.

Friends and family of the runners (pictured, top) joined us (pictured, right) at our station near mile 14 on Narrow Street to cheer on all the runners.

Our thanks also go to Rubicon Estates who again supported us by selling cakes and drinks (and use of their toilet!) to spectators in return for optional donations – as well as providing water, sweets and fruit for runners.

With a band playing and even some local police helping to hand out water, it was a great day celebrating running and the amazing efforts of everyone who took part.

A special congratulations and thank you of course goes to each of our runners for taking on such a challenge to help those in the hospitals we support.

If you’ve been inspired by this year’s race, watch this space for our applications for the 2017 race, which open very soon! Please email Ellie if you're interested in hearing more:
