M&S staff enjoy behind-the-scenes tour of Barts Hearts Centre

The Barts Hearts Centre last week hosted a team from M&S for a behind-the-scenes tour of London’s busiest and largest integrated cardiac care centre which treats over 76,000 patients each year.
The Paternoster Square branch of M&S has been fundraising for the Centre since 2015 and the team has so far raised an amazing £3,300. Much of this is thanks to their Charity Champion, Evelyn Taylor, who was last year officially recognised by M&S when she won national awards for her contribution to the store’s charity fundraising.
Led by General Manager Karen Donaldson and Lab Manager Goncalo Fiel, the M&S team got a first-hand view of the finished centre which now houses every cardiac specialism under one roof, along with some of the most cutting edge equipment and innovative research programmes in the world.
Following the tour of the state-of-the-art unit, the Store Manager Junior Balkissoon said “We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and it was inspiring to say the least. We are proud to continue our support of Barts Charity and the Barts Heart Centre.”
Sharon Ngwena, Community Fundraiser for Barts Charity, said, “All the staff at Paternoster Square have been incredible, and they have been so enthusiastic about fundraising for the Heart Centre. Going into the store and seeing everyone in purple t-shirts always brings a huge smile to us all here at the Charity.”
