Donating gifts, toys and games

Giving toys, games, treats or other presents for patients is a kind thought. But the best gift that you can give your hospitals is a donation - no matter how big or small!

Your support will mean the hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust can continue to offer extraordinary healthcare to everyone they look after.

What difference could my donation make?

Every donation to Barts Charity counts. And they add up to make an even bigger difference for patients! Your support could:

  • improve and update hospital buildings and facilities
  • provide life-changing specialist equipment
  • support world-leading research
  • fund projects that improve the health and wellbeing of your local community

Yes, I would like to make a donation

What if I’d still like to donate a gift?

If you’d prefer to donate an item, of course we’d be very grateful! Donations of toys or games will be given to our hospital Play Teams and used to help younger patients cope with their hospital experience. Other gifts will be shared with the most appropriate ward or service.

Items that cannot be used by our patients may be used for fundraising or passed on to another hospital or charity.

Please do not wrap your gifts. This helps us get them to the right patient!

We regret we cannot collect your gifts or cover the cost of having them delivered to the hospital.

Before donating any items, please get in touch to let us know what you would like to give, so that we can advise you on whether it’s something we can accept and where to send it. You can email us or call 020 7618 1720.

What type of gifts are useful?

Our younger patients love:

  • Stationery, arts and craft materials e.g. paints, paper, colouring pencils, crayons, craft kits
  • Toys and board games for older children
  • Stimulating, developmental toys for babies and young children

Everyone loves:

  • Books
  • Media and technology e.g. portable dvd players, dvds, headphones

What shouldn’t I give?

Infection control in hospital is very important. As a result, we cannot accept:

  • Used or second-hand items (toys, games, clothes, books or magazines)
  • Items that cannot easily be washed or wiped clean
  • Very large soft toys
  • Food or perishable items
Thank you for thinking of us!
