Greatest Gift Appeal: Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t make a gift through your website?

Don’t worry! You can donate over the phone by calling our Supporter Care team on 020 7618 1720. Alternatively, you can donate via your mobile phone by texting GGIF18 £10 to 70070.

Can I donate by post?

Yes, you can. Please send a cheque or postal order payable to ‘Barts Charity’ with a covering note stating ‘Greatest Gift Appeal’ and your name and address to: Greatest Gift Appeal, Barts Charity, 12 Cock Lane, London EC1A 9BU. Please don’t send cash in the post – it’s not secure!

Can I send in gifts, toys or games for patients?

Giving toys, games, treats or other gifts is a kind thought. However, you can make a bigger difference by donating direct via the charity. By giving a virtual gift through the Greatest Gift Appeal you’ll be doing the best thing for our patients and staff. Your support will mean we can work with our NHS colleagues to make sure patients get the right gifts at the right time. You’ll also be helping our hospitals to continue to give extraordinary healthcare to everyone, year round. And, if you’re a UK tax payer, we may be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation – boosting it by an extra 25% at no extra cost to you.

Can I choose more than one virtual gift?

We’re sorry, but we can only accept one donation at a time through our website. You are welcome to make repeat donations. Alternatively, if you would like to donate an amount not shown in our wish list, you can select the ‘choose your own gift amount’ option.

Can I donate an amount of my choice?

Yes, of course – every donation counts, no matter how big or small! Simply select ‘choose your own gift amount’ from the list.

When I donate a virtual gift, what do I get?

You’ll receive an e-certificate to say thank you, which you can choose to print out or forward on to a friend.

Can I give a virtual gift as a present for someone else? What will they get?

If you would like to donate a gift for someone else, you will receive an e-certificate. During the donation process, you will also have the option to be sent a blank thank you card in the post, which you can give to your friend or relative. Cards will only be sent for donations received on or before 17 December. We regret that we are unable to send cards direct to a third party due to data protection guidelines.

Where does my money go?

We’ll use the funds raised to provide Christmas gifts for children and older people in the care of the hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust. Anything raised over and above the amount needed to purchase the gifts will be shared between our general funds for children’s and older people’s services, in line with our donors’ wishes. If you any further questions, please contact our Supporter Care Team on 020 7618 1720.
