A fabulous festive season in the hospitals

01 Jan 2020

Thanks to our supporters, the hospitals were full of Christmas joy last month. You donated £16,000 to our Greatest Gift Appeal which meant that every child and older person spending Christmas in hospital had a gift to open, from fun toys to cosy blankets.

Support from our corporate partners

Wards across the hospitals were given a Christmassy makeover by our corporate supporters. A big thank you to the following for giving up their time, and in many cases making a generous donation too: Aspen, Barclays, BMO, CME Group, Evaluate, Mount Anvil and Partners Wealth.

Famous Footballing Faces

We were excited to welcome football teams back to our children’s wards to hand out gifts and chat to patients, parents and staff. Whipps Cross patients were visited by Harry Kane and his Tottenham Hotspur teammates, as well as Leyton Orient. West Ham surprised patients at Newham Hospital and Arsenal’s mascot Gunnersaurus came along to The Royal London Hospital. You can see all of the photos on Facebook here.

Bringing the Christmas spirit to Barts Health

There’s nothing more festive than Christmas carolling, and we were lucky to be visited by choirs throughout December. A big thank you to Barts Choir, St Paul’s Cathedral School Choir and Issy from Mile End Hospital and her choir, who all performed for patients and staff.  We also funded a gift for all of the Barts volunteers and staff working on Christmas Day and provided Christmas trees throughout the Trust - a big thank you to Forest Gate Construction, SERCO and KRH for your contributions towards the trees.

Thank you for your support this Christmas and we wish you a happy and healthy 2020!
