George and Julia’s story
This year, George and Julia Isaacs celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, meaning they have been married for fifty years. As opposed to accepting presents for their big day, the pair instead chose to fundraise to give back to those who cared for George.
In 2018, George had a triple heart bypass graft and received subsequent care at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The couple praised those working at the hospital, telling us: “We were so pleased and impressed with the care and professionalism of all the staff involved in George’s procedure.” They made a donation to Barts Charity soon after George’s operation but then decided they wanted to do more to give back.
A fantastic fundraising total
To celebrate the amazing milestone of fifty years of marriage, the couple threw a party for their friends and family. Collection boxes for the charity were displayed at the event and guests were invited to contribute.
Their friends and family were hugely generous, raising a brilliant £500. The couple’s niece Angela also doubled this amount thanks to the matched funding scheme at her workplace, Salesforce.
“We hope that the donations will help towards the well-being of others and help to keep the high standard of care on going,” George and Julia shared.
Thank you
Reflecting on their advice for a long and happy marriage, the couple said: “Not letting the things you want make you forget the things you have! A perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who love each other who refuse to give up on each other.”
We are so grateful to the Isaacs and their loved ones for their wonderful donations. We wish the couple many more years of happy marriage.
