555 fundraising challenge goes global at Salesforce

Salesforce colleagues took on the 555 running challenge to keep motivated during lockdown. They raised over £3,000 for our Emergency Covid-19 Appeal.

A team effort

James and Jessica work together on the sales team at Salesforce, a global software company. They were looking for ways to engage their team whilst working from home. They came across the 555 fundraising challenge that has been sweeping social media during lockdown and decided to take part. The 555 challenge involves running 5km, nominating 5 of your friends on social media to do the same, and then donating £5 to charity.

The colleagues wanted to give their team something fun to focus on, so started the challenge by sharing it amongst their office. Surprised by how quickly the challenge took off, they soon found Salesforce employees were being nominated across the world, including Europe and the US.

The challenge even got a mention in their company-wide webcast, encouraging even more people to take part. Each nominee ran their 5k and donated £5 to our Covid-19 emergency appeal. Some even donated more if they were nominated multiple times.

Connection to Barts Charity

Salesforce supported our Covid-19 emergency appeal as their London office is based close to the hospitals that we support. The team were keen to help frontline NHS staff during these unprecedented times. Boosting the individual donations, the Salesforce company have very generously agreed to match the funds raised by their staff. This helped the participants raised £3,200 in total.

Jess says, “This has been a fantastic way for us to not only stay fit whilst giving back to an amazing cause but also it has allowed us to keep employee morale high – having a bit of fun and engage in some healthy competition.”

We’d like to say a big thank you to all involved.
