Fundraising from home

Staying connected to Barts Charity and fundraising from the comfort of your own home has never been easier. Here’s some inspiration to get you started.

Keep Active

Getting your daily exercise is great for both physical and mental wellbeing and it’s also a perfect fundraising oppotunity.

  • Virtual race
Whether you want to challenge yourself to complete a Couch to 5k or take on a full marathon, choose your distance, plot your route and get sponsored to stay active. Not a big runner – why not challenge yourself to walk, cycle, swim or even skip every day for a month?
  • Step goal challenge
Want to stay fit whilst working from home? Ask everyone you know to sponsor you as you get creative trying to reach your step goal. Lunchtime walks, skipping in the garden or star jumps on your balcony tea break – track your steps on your phone or with Strava and link this to your JustGiving page.

Stay Connected

It’s important to stay connected with your local community so why not plan a fun virtual event for a good cause.

  • Host a virtual quiz
A quiz is a great way to get people together and raise some money. Use Zoom to get your friends, family or colleagues together for a battle of the brains. Set up a JustGiving page and ask everyone taking part to donate £5.
  • Birthday celebrations
Have a birthday coming up? Host a virtual party and make it one to remember by upping the feel-good factor by setting up a birthday fundraiser on Facebook. Ask for donations instead of buying you a present or a birthday drink.

Get Crafty

Use your creative flair to fundraise for Barts Charity whether it’s selling your creations or teaching your friends new skills.

  • Sell your creations
Paintings, drawings, home-made candles or even jewellery, use your hobby or side hustle to fundraise. Create a limited-edition product to be sold for Barts Charity or donate a portion of your proceeds.
  • Share your skills
Are you a knitting expert, budding florist or a master chef? Host an online tutorial asking participants to donate a small amount to join your class.

Try Something New

Challenge yourself to get out of your comfort zone or give something up for a good cause.

  • Day of dares
Get sponsored to complete a series of challenges set by your friends and family. You could shave your head, grow out your beard or do 150 burpees. The more you do the more they donate.
  • Donate your commute
With working from home the new norm, you may have found yourself saving money. If you’re able to, why not donate what you would usually spend commuting to work for a week?
